Final signing off post

this is my final signing off post, its been great doing media and creating my own title sequence. its been hard but worth it. the blogging part was probably the hardest. you need to be heavily determined to post new posts all the time and make all the posts you need to pass the course. ive learnt how to edit movies using PrPro and add sounds and titles to camera recording. ive become more confident in my abilities to film and use technology to do with media.

Final singing off post

this is my final signing off post, it has been a rollercoaster journey to get to where I am now, but I must say I have enjoyed it. ever since GCSE I have been patiently waiting to create practical film work and now I have finally done it I must say it was worth the wait as this experience has opened up my eyes to a whole new world (Wendy Helsby - 'media is a window to another world'). this experience has shown me that I really like this line off work and I have now begun looking into jobs within the media. I already knew a few things about camera angles, shots and what makes a good film but this task has improved my knowledge on the matter and has given me the confidence to take a leading roll when doing another project like this.

Final Sign Off Post

This is my final post for my coursework, It has been very hard but I got through it with the help from my team and also Louisa. I have come across a lot of software's and new ways to use technology for example Premier Pro, Prezi, Emaze and a lot more. It has been an amazing experience for me to learn how to create a title sequence and do my friend original filming and to understand the purposes of why it is so important to have a title sequence and what it does to create a good film.

Question 1- Karen

This prezi just shows how me and my group have created ou title sequence and where out ideas came from to create it for examples the credits, characters anf why we did these and picked these particualr ideas and we got these from real media like insidious and unfriended and even step father just to create that suspense and creepy tension to the audience

In this presentation I mention what an audience is and what a target audience does to make your film look just a it better. For example having the right target audience for the right genre you have created. for example knowing what type of people would like thriller and horror movies.

Question 7 - milos

DRAFT

When making my prelim it was the first time i made a mini movie or even a video clip of my acting. for my first time i believed it was a good effort and was a decent clip. however it could of been improved in many different ways.

When making my prelim i made a story board and i also used the 180 degree rule. this 180 degree rule is where the camera angle changes when a new person is talking in a conversation. in my actual movie i didnt need to abide by the 180 degree rule because in my video the characters didnt speak, it almost fully consisted of a build up of suspense.

when making my prelim the title i used was very basic and did not need any skill to create. didnt use an ident as well. without an ident the movie will lose marks and not look professional. when making the real movie i spent a lot more time on the title of the movie. I thought about the font and how it will effect the audience. i also thought about the affects of putting my title onto a blank dark screen to put the audience in a mood that will reflect the genre of the film.

In my prelim th sound used was not thought about at all, we just spoke and et the camera catch our voices without thought of how it will sound or reflect the genre of the movie. in the real title sequence we spent as much time on the sound as we did on the visuals. the sound in a movie will can make it a success or a failure. the sound puts the audience in a mood for the movie and it helps gives emotion to the viewer.

another difference is the way we recorded both clips. in the prelim we didnt pay much attention to if the camera will shake and how that will look on screen. in the final title sequence, we used tripods and payed attention to how the camera angle will make the audience feel when watching it.

an important thing we didnt pay attention to in the prelim is when we make each cut, in the prelim a lot of the cuts were too fast and it made the prelim not look professional at all. you would know it was made by an amateur. in the final title sequence it looked a lot more professional because of the sounds, colours and camera angles and cut that we used.

there were many hidden skills that were used in the final title sequence. by hidden skills i mean team work, organisation and determination. without these three main skills we wouldnt of been able to make the title sequence.

editing was one of the main things we improved in the main title sequence. in the prelim i didnt contribute much to the editing but in the final product and managed to learn how to edit and became the main editor of the movie.

from the pitch to the big screen.

our pitch had all of our initial ideas. to be honest i dont have a lot to say about the transition from pitch to final product as we kept it very consistent with our ideas. we kept our sub-genre of it being a sci-fi. i tried to convey this sub-genre through my use of sound in the title sequence. we had our actors wearing comfortable everyday clothing to suspend audience disbelief. we never change anything from our pitch; we kept everything the same because it was easier this way and we used votes to finalise our decisions on the pitch, therefore the pitch was actually made by our audience so there was no need for us to change it s the audience already liked the idea of our film.

Updated Storyboard

This storyboard is the original story or what we was trying to create, we got stuck along the way thinking about how we was going to piece everything together and making it work to create a discrete opening sequence, However you will notice that the opening sequence of our film looks more discrete then we've imagined, we've created more shots and quick shots to seem more exciting and to also fit in with the sound. We have also thought more about how we are going to place the font onto the film, and how the title will look better is we made them look like they was a part of the film. This has taken a lot of work to do but we now have a clear and better idea of how out film opening is going to look like

Improvement

My media teacher looked over out blog and has shown and analysed where we need to improve and where out strength and weaknesses are so we can improve in the future so our blogs are at a very high and suitable stage.

In the first check list you see that not many was done in very little detail and also not getting post done on time and also mixing up the check list orders.
In the second check list seems to be a lot better shows that my ICT skills have imporved using more videos and pictures to improve the whole blog and make it look more interesteing. However i was still missing a lot of posts.
My last checklist was much better, I had a lot more strenghs but still some weaknesses however i can quickly improve on, just make sure everythings up ontime.

overall blogging health check

So far i have been making improvements overall , it is at a fairly slow pace however i am still improving and i am going to continue to improve my work where needed.

  • To improve i basically need to include more uses of ict skill and more description/detail within my blog posts.
This is what my overall blogging health check looks like.

health check 3

My teacher uploaded this feedback for me to see so i can improve my work even more then before.

(bellow is what my teacher uploaded)

Frankie, your blog is very promising. You have a good blog count of 50 posts and there is lots of good evidence to suggest that you are working well on your coursework. However, as you have moved into the production phase, your posting of work has been more sporadic with less evidence of the work that I have seen your group complete in class. Although you are just into level 3, I feel that you have the potential to be attaining a higher mark for this part of the coursework. Please can you read through the feedback below and then complete the to do / targets at the bottom of the page:

strengths:
- some nice evidence of planning
- some nice social media
- some nice use of ICT to present work
- nice branding of the site

weaknesses:
- very little evidence of filming
- no evidence of editing
- time management and frequency of posting during the production phase
- no storyboard

to do / targets:
- upload storyboard asap
- post evidence of your editing and drafts of your title sequence as it develops
- improve frequency of posting as we move into the final editing stages - aim for at least 4 times weekly
-continue to develop your nice use of ICT and social media to present work and address branding / distribution ideas

I am going to use this feedback to further improve my blog.

Health Check List 3

Karen, your blog is promising and suggests lots of potential and although you have some very strong posts and a good blog count of 53 posts, it isn't always consistent so there is some very strong work but then gaps in your blogging. This means that your mark has dropped slightly to the top of level 2, which I feel doesn't reflect all your hard work that I see in class or the potential that I think you have in this subject. Therefore, please can you read through the comments below and complete the to do / targets at the bottom in order to develop your blog and attain a mark in level 3.
strengths:
- evidence of work is nicely presented
- lovely branding of the blog
- improved use of ICT since last health check

weaknesses:
- no storyboard
- no evidence of editing
- little evidence of filming
- some issues with time management and frequency of posting - big gaps

to do / targets:
1. post storyboard asap
2. ensure evidence of filming sessions and editing sessions, with reflection of how successful you have been in each lesson, is posted to the blog after lesson
3. aim to improve your frequency of posting to the blog - 3 to 4 times weekly with no big gaps as we move into the final stages
4. continue to use your good use of ICT, branding and social media
