6 - Analysis of two film title sequences.

Film 1

This is the title sequence for Narcos, I really like this title sequence as it distinguishes this genre, location (Latin America) and hints at the storyline. The calm laid-back music contrasted with violence on screen indicates it will be an old school gangster movie as typically, they feature grown men who are involved in crime and enjoy the finer things in life such as, Opera houses, classical music and suits (expensive clothing).

The music played in the background also helps to confirm the location as the music is Hispanic. The moving images on the screen also help to capture the characters obsessions and the things his life revolves around. There is very simple typography, however it is integrated with the moving images to an extent as they have been placed in the position that allows clear visibility, however they do not become a part of the moving image itself.

All of these things have helped to show me that this title sequence is in the category of titles of them moving images; it can then further be categorised into discrete title sequences as it ductails seamlessly into the phone it keeps the audience entertained and sets and expectation for the film. The titles are integrated to and extent as they are not a part of the moving image however I placed around the moving image to allow clear visibility. The title sequence doesn't clearly show the film story line however does hint clues as to what it is. It also helps to set the tone and pace of the film.

Film 2

This is the title sequence for To Kill A Mockingbird. I think this title sequence is really clever as it sets the tone, pace and era of the film.

This title sequence captures the characters of sessions, it is beautifully photographed most of the shots are extreme close-ups, the typography is integrated with the images and it also has a simple design. all of these things help to maintain the audiences focuse and interest for the film as it is not too complicated and easy to understand.

This title sequence can be categorised in titles over moving image because it incorporates credit titles with moving images behind it, and has sound and includes very little dialogue (a girl humming). The moving images serve to offer a metaphor and narrative thread (helps to introduce tone of the the film). A conservatory subcategorised into discrete title sequences because the titles are integrated into the moving image. It doesn't clearly show the films story line however does help to set the tone of the film.
