14 - Conventions for thriller film openings.

What are the typical conventions I may need to include in my title sequence?

Thriller film openings will consist of low-key lighting, creepy music, violence or some form of gruesome image. It also helps to convey the setting or location of the film and builds tension and suspense. It can also have the hero or villain in the sequence.

Props and location design can help to give a sinister meaning to things, as props can say a lot about the character.

Thriller films typically use tracking and paning shots in the beginning as  to audience of feeling of being the camera as it feels like it's from the first person perspective. By doing this it helps to suspend the audiences disbelief.
