Sound is important because without sound the film opening will just be boring and not entertaining at all, without sound the first bit of the film justifies the whole film and the first 2 minutes show that. With no sound the film opening loses the audience straight away and people don't focus on the film anymore and start to ger bored. Also without sound you don't find out much for example a film could be a horror but the film opening may look very quiet and peaceful but with no sound we wont know that the film is suppose to be a horror or not.
With sound u instantly get an idea of what the film genre is and what its going to be about even before the film has actually stared, having sound makes a massive difference to a film opening because it makes the audience understand a lot more but also draws them in a lot more and gets them more interested in the film before its even started
