5 - What makes a good title sequence according to Kyle Cooper?

Kyle Cooper is a man who single-handedly revitalised the main title sequence as an art form.

According to Kyle Cooper he believes that a good title sequence:
1- ductails seamlessly into the film (preview of the film).
2- sets an expectation for the film.
3- keeps the audience entertained and interested.

The importance of the font used in the film seven is that it is:
1- handwritten font.
2- killer is writing a journal and writing on the film itself.

Kyle Cooper likes the title sequence for 'Deadzone' because because it uses simple typography and the music was great and mysterious.

Kyle Cooper also likes the title sequence for to kill a mocking bird because it captures the characters obsessions, it is beautifully photographed, the typography is integrated with the main image on screen and it uses a simple design.

Kyle Cooper also says that a story based title sequence is good as it gives us an idea about the storyline, and is also a metaphor for the overall film (the part of the title sequence that did not make sense until watching the film and having that "ahh" moment).

The first 2 1/2 minutes of the title sequence is important because it gives credit to the studio, it gets a reputation for the film and it adds additional information that they may have left out in the studio.

The title sequence for Dawn of the dead is very clever as it sets the context of the film, and uses credits at the beginning and end to advance the plot (gives extra information).

Kyle Cooper thinks titles are so important to a film as they set the expectations of the film and it introduces/sets the tempo of the film. Also it's suspend disbelief of the audience (makes them believe what they are watching is real and not fake).
